REIMEI RESEARCH PROGRAM FY2011
New approach to the exotic phases of actinides compounds under unconventional experimental conditions
[Objectives]

  • Development of macroscopic and microscopic measurements (microcalorimetly, thermal expansion, NMR, neutron and X-ray techniques) under high pressure for actinide compounds.
  • Development of macroscopic properties, NMR, dHvA, neutrons and X-rays scatterings under high magnetic field.
  • Search for new materials. New ferromagnetic superconductors in U-based systems. Higher Tc compounds in transuranium-based systems.
In f-electron systems, the electronic state is quite sensitive to intensive parameters such as pressure and magnetic field since the Gruneisen constant is large. In spite of this, measurements under such conditions are limited in actinide compounds so far. Particularly, the microscopic and dHvA measurements are original and useful to characterize the electronic states. In addition, search for new materials is always very important in solid state physics. In this project, researchers try to find new exotic systems including transuranium, and high quality single crystals on international collaborations.

[Schedule]
We had held an international workshop as a kick-off meeting of this REIMEI Research Program “New approach to the exotic phases of actinides compounds under unconventional experimental conditions”, during Feb. 16-18th, 2011 at ASRC, JAEA in Japan. For the detail, please click here.

In 2012, the second workshop will be held at Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), Grenoble, France, during Feb. 1-3. The website for this workshop is now open: http://www.ill.eu/news-events/events/reimei/
