The research objectives of the Hadron Nuclear Physics Group are experimental studies of exotic hadrons and nuclei with strange and charm quarks mainly at J-PARC, and hot and dense quark/hadronic matter at J-PARC, Belle and Belle II(II) experiments at SuperKEKB at KEK, and sPHENIX (super Pioneering High Energy Nuclear Interaction eXperiment) and STAR (Solenoidal Tracker At RHIC) experiments at BNL-RHIC (Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider) at BNL (Brookhaven National Laboratory, USA). Through these studies, we investigate many-body systems of quarks and hadrons, the origin of the hadron mass, the quark-hadron-nucleus hierarchy, and hadron-quark phase structures, in relation with Quantum Chromo Dynamics (QCD).
Hadron physics experiments employing Hyperon Spectrometer
We constructed Hyperon Spectrometer, a large acceptance spectrometer based on the 3-D tracking detector (HypTPC) for general hadron experiments at K1.8 and K1.8BR beamline. Experiments using the spectrometer are as follow:
H-dibaryon search experiment (J-PARC E42)
Search for a new Λ (1665) resonance and study its structure (J-PARC E72)
Nucleon resonance spectroscopy via high-statistics πNππN reaction measurements (J-PARC E45)
Study of ΣN cusp to study ΣN interaction (J-PARC E90)
Studies of the origin of the hadron mass at the high-momentum beamline
Modifications of vector meson mass spectrum including φ in nuclei (J-PARC E16)
High-statistics studies of the modification of phi meson mass spectrum via K+K- decay (J-PARC E88)
Preparation for J-PARC Heavy Ion project (J-PARC-HI)
Planning of the project (facility, organization, budget request) together with other groups
Detailed design of experiments and apparatus
Development of detectors and the data DAQ acquisition systems
Update of the experimental proposal of the di-leption study and prepare more proposals
Other experimental studies
Through experimental studies below, we will study the structure of hadrons and nucleons including strange quarks, and hadron-hadron interactions, and structures of the QCD phase diagram.
