Background

This workshop on the Chemistry of the Heaviest Elements (CHE 8) is the eighth in a series of workshops held in Grossbothen (1991), Solothurn (1993), Mainz (1995), Stenungsund (1997), Hasliberg (2001), Oslo (2005), and Mainz (2009). In Stenungsund, it was decided to organize - in addition to these workshops focusing on the chemistry of transactinides - the International Conference on the Transactinide Elements (TAN). In intermediate years, TAN conferences where held in Seeheim (1999), Napa (2003), Davos (2007), and Sochi (2011).

Scope

The workshop focuses on recent developments in the one atom-at-a-time chemistry of transactinides in the liquid phase and in the gas phase, theoretical modeling of atoms and compounds of transactinides and their interaction, and technical developments. Closely related nuclear aspects will be covered to some but significantly smaller extent.
